It’s time to start packing for Stars & Stripes camp… Don’t forget to include your spirit wear… There may even be prizes for “Best Dressed” each day!

  • (A)Merica Monday — U-S-A! U-S-A! Dress to impress in your finest patriotic wear!

  • Winter Olympics Wednesday — Though Team USA is competing in the Rio sunshine, we’re going to dress as if we’re part of the US bobsled or figure staking team… Bust our your winter-y best!
  • Stars & Stripes Summer Camp Spirit Day (Thursday) — Athletes and staff will wear their official Camp apparel (leos/shirts) and the groups will accessorize according to their group theme. This year’s groups will be named after cities that have hosted the Olympics — we’ll do our best to get group assignment out early if possible so athlete can plan ahead and pack to dress as their Olympic city!

Doug Miller, IGI, added to Guest Staff Line-up!

We’re excited to announce that Doug Miller of Ilinois Gymnastics Institute has been added to the already fabulous line-up of 2016 Stars & Stripes Summer Camp Staff!

Doug Miller Headshot

Doug Miller, IGI

Doug has been coaching gymnastics since the age of 14, private club since 1989.  Starting with coaching boys through the elite level for 8 years, he switched to girls in 1996.

Miller has been blessed to work with and learn from some of the best coaches in the country including, but not limited to: Neil Resnick, Tammy Biggs, Tom Forester, Todd Gardiner, Mary Lee Tracey, Enrique Tribiano, Valeri Liukin, and Jeff Wood… among many others.

Doug assisted in the development and coaching of two gold medal Olympians, as well of a third athlete who fell just short making an Olympic team.  While coaching at IGI, Doug was fortunate enough to be on the floor at the 2004 Olympic Trials to help spot during training, then watched it live.  Miller served as one of the directors at Lake Owen camp for 8+ years, and now is a special guest coach and clinician at Woodward Camp in Pennsylvania.  Miller has been a clinician at Region 5, Ohio State and Illinois State congresses for the past 10 years.

Miller says “I really find it humbling and rewarding to coach youths in this crazy sport and love the challenge each day brings.  Learning and teaching everyday that God gives us, is truly a prize in life.”
